About

In 1946, still bearing the marks of World War II bombing, the Haus Knobloch industrial villa became home to the Kunstamt Zehlendorf. This marked the beginning of what would become the Haus am Waldsee, a venue that has shaped the art exhibition history of Berlin for decades. To celebrate its 80th anniversary in 2026, the museum looks back at its formative years. The exhibition explores the transformation from a private residence to a public art space, highlighting the ruptures and continuities of the post-war era.
